The title chase starts at home
Oscar Piastri has kicked off 2025 with a clear goal: after helping McLaren secure the Formula 1 Constructors’ title last year and watching his teammate attempt—unsuccessfully—to dethrone Max Verstappen as world champion, he now wants to stake his own claim for the title.
As he prepares to head to Australia for the season’s first race—also his home Grand Prix—the F1 world has witnessed what many call the ‘deal of the century’: Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari.

The arrival of the most successful driver in F1 history at the sport’s most legendary and decorated team has captivated motorsport fans, and Oscar Piastri is no exception. The McLaren driver, speaking on a recent episode of *The Fast and the Curious* podcast, openly admitted that if he were in a neutral position, he’d be cheering for the 40-year-old Briton.
“I’d say that if I weren’t racing in F1, seeing Lewis Hamilton win a world championship with Ferrari would be awesome. But I said ‘would be’—if I weren’t competing against him myself,” he quickly clarified. Who knows, perhaps as early as the Melbourne weekend, Oscar Piastri will find himself battling his ‘favorites’ for victory.
