Season finale leaves Ollie Bearman with points on his license
The end of the season left significant consequences for Oliver Bearman, who will begin the 2026 championship with 10 points on his Super License, just two points shy of an automatic suspension. The decisive incident occurred on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, during a high-stakes duel with Lance Stroll that saw both drivers receive penalties from the stewards.
Excessive maneuvers and severe penalties
The stewards penalized both Ollie Bearman and Lance Stroll for making more than one change of direction while defending. The British Haas driver was sanctioned for multiple lines between turns eight and nine as he tried to contain Stroll, while the Canadian received the same penalty after overtaking Carlos Sainz Jr. Both drivers served five-second penalties and received one point each on their Super Licenses. Similar infringements were noted for Yuki Tsunoda, who also received a penalty for his contact with Lando Norris.
Ollie Bearman’s reaction and the final standings
After the race, Ollie Bearman voiced his frustration:
“I’m a bit annoyed about the reason I was penalized. With Stroll, I was penalized for more than one change of direction. I broke the slipstream once, which is allowed by the regulations, and then I defended the inside line.”
The penalties had immediate effects on the final classification. Stroll dropped to tenth place behind Nico Hulkenberg, while Ollie Bearman, finishing outside the points in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ended up in twelfth position.
