Pedro de la Rosa feels Monaco was not a one-off victory chance for Ferrari in 2021. Pedro de la Rosa feels Monaco was not a one-off victory chance for Ferrari.

The Monaco Grand Prix could have been a great weekend for Scuderia Ferrari, with many points that seemed achievable and a potential victory within reach as a result of Charles Leclerc’s pole position on Saturday. The Maranello’s SF21 car really proved to be very strong and comfortable in the slow corners of the Monte Carlo streets, but unfortunately the damage to the Monegasque’s car and Carlos Sainz’s slightly lower starting position led only to a second place which at the same time is the best results of the 2021 Formula 1 season for Ferrari, but also remains a slightly disappointing weekend.

According to Pedro de la Rosa, former test driver of the Maranello team, Monaco was not the only opportunity to win a Grand Prix for the Italian side in 2021: “If you go fast in Monaco it means that you can be fast even on tracks with similar characteristics such as Hungary and Singapore, or in the wet, conditions in which Carlos is fantastic and I think Charles Leclerc too. The car proved to have a good load” – he explained, as reported by the Italian daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. So hoping for some rain in the next races, for Ferrari to be able to seize the opportunities.

Pedro de la Rosa confirms that we have not seen a Ferrari like this for some time: “It will be interesting to see how Carlos grows with Ferrari. A great period awaits us with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Formula 1 thrives on cycles, why couldn’t the next one be that of Ferrari? After all, it’s been a long time since the last title. I also like the atmosphere in the team: Charles in Monaco was extraordinary for having participated at the podium celebrations to applaud his team-mate. It is not a common thing in F1 and in truth I thought it would not be possible for Ferrari.” – Pedro de la Rosa concluded.
