Outside of the Red Bull garages in Baku, British racing driver from Scotland, Paul di Resta, currently a Sky Sports F1 Pundit, discusses some of the differences he sees between Red Bull and Ferrari ahead of the qualifying session for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
“Red Bull always seem to be that one step in front of Ferrari, they race better and they manage it better from the Pit Wall,” Paul di Resta notes. “That’s where Ferrari I think are missing that last trick and it caught them out last time. Red Bull know that and that’s where they’ve just got to keep the two drivers under control, that’s the most important thing.” – he said.
Former world champion Damon Hill adds his perspective: “Red Bull were involved in a massively intense battle last season and to win the World Championship they had to use guile and cunning and all the rest of it, they’re good at that. Ferrari were in a kind of holding pattern last year preparing for this season. Now, they’re here they are looking at little bit all at sea and not use to running at the front. Tactically, when it comes to racing, they’ve got the improve.”
Damon Hill then adds his perspective when it comes to drivers going for a World Championship title:
“This is the contradiction of our sport, you’ve got two Championships running concurrently – Drivers’ and Constructors. The Constructors clearly are the employers and they tell the drivers that they want them to do the best job you can without tripping each other. At some point, the drivers say, okay I’ve played your game and now I need to look after No 1, which is me. That’s when it gets interesting!” – the former world champion concluded.
