Formula 1 was back on track today at the Bahrain International circuit, as teams continue their preparations ahead of the start of the 2022 Formula 1 season. On Friday, the drivers had to contend with even hotter weather as the temperature was up to 33’C.
That meant rather that getting on top of the Turn 10 lock ups, they added Turn 1 to the mix – again, and again.
As with Thursday morning it was Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc who led the way after the opening hour in Sakhir, before the Maranello team’s driver was overtaken by Esteban Ocon in the second hour. The Alpine driver, his car sporting the team’s alternate pink livery, posted a 1:34.276 on the C4 tyres to edge Charles Leclerc by less than a tenth of a second, the Ferrari driver setting his best time on the C3 Pirelli tyres.
The Monegasque driver completed 54 laps in this morning session of the second day of testing, as Ferrari introduced an important floor update which should help reduce the porpoising effect. After the one-hour break, Carlos Sainz will take over from Charles Leclerc and will drive the F1-75 car in tge afternoon session at the Bahrain International circuit.
Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel was fourth place ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris, both drivers having problems out on track.
