Oliver Bearman experienced a moment that went far beyond pure sporting achievement: after securing a surprising fourth place at the Mexican Grand Prix, the young Haas driver was unable to hold back tears during a live television interview. With his father and girlfriend, Alicia Torriani, standing behind him, Oliver Bearman could not continue the interview for ViaPlay.
Bearman’s words in Mexico are full of emotion
During the interview, Oliver Bearman had to pause. With a trembling voice, he said, “It’s really special. You didn’t need to show me, now I’m emotional!”
Thanks to him, Haas achieves its best-ever result
The result in Mexico represents the best finish Haas has ever achieved in Formula 1, and it came well-earned: starting from ninth, Ollie Bearman expertly seized opportunities created by the battles of other drivers and managed his tires with remarkable intelligence. After the race, he highlighted the importance of the weekend in an interview with motorsport.com:
“We also had the pace to stay there during the race. George Russell and Oscar Piastri couldn’t overtake me, so we did something right on track as well. I’m very happy with my qualifying lap—it’s one I’m particularly proud of, and it paid off in the race. At one point, with that medium tire strategy, the plan was to go all the way to the end, but then I received the last-minute instruction to pit. I think, from our position, it would have been a bit risky to stay out and aim for the podium, with the risk of finishing sixth or seventh. I believe we made the right choice, even if it perhaps took away the chance to fight for the podium. But finishing fourth is positive.” – the Ferrari junior concluded at the end of the Mexican Grand Prix.
