Lewis Hamilton continues to struggle behind the wheel of the SF-25. Even in Jeddah, the seven-time world champion did not maximize the potential of the car; and there’s an additional worrying statistic for Ferrari…
Lewis, what’s going on?
In the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman was Charles Leclerc’s teammate, as he replaced Carlos Sainz, who underwent surgery for appendicitis. The gap in qualifying between the young driver from the Ferrari Driver Academy and the Monegasque was exactly 530 thousandths, with the current Haas driver eliminated in Q2.
The difference between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in yesterday’s final qualifying session, however, was 531 thousandths. This is certainly concerning regarding Hamilton’s feeling with the SF-25. Excluding the Sprint weekend in China, where he took pole position and a dominant victory, Lewis Hamilton has always been behind Charles Leclerc, and not by a small margin.
The question arises: if Ferrari were to find the right setup, would Hamilton return to performing at his best? We’ll have to wait to find out, but the Tifosi are (rightly) tired of hearing “we’re waiting”…
