Oliver Bearman’s first full year as a Formula 1 race driver
After serving as a substitute driver in three Grand Prix events during the 2024 season, Oliver Bearman earned praise from the Formula 1 paddock for his calmness, driving skills, and results, scoring points in two of those three appearances. Thanks to these impressive performances, the British driver convinced the Haas F1 Team to give him the opportunity to compete as a full-time race driver in the 2025 season.
Now, Oliver Bearman is experiencing firsthand what it means to compete for an entire season alongside a highly experienced teammate. After a promising start to the year, collecting six points in the first four Grands Prix, the member of the Ferrari Driver Academy saw his momentum stall. He managed to get back on track only during the Sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Oliver Bearman cannot be blamed for the challenges he has faced so far. He suffered two incidents during the free practice sessions in Melbourne, but during the actual races he was consistent and, unlike many other rookies, avoided major mistakes. The 19-point gap compared to teammate Esteban Ocon is largely due to some strategic uncertainties and the French driver’s extensive experience, which has helped him consistently maximize the car’s potential.
Oliver Bearman’s words
Despite the relatively low points tally in 2025, Oliver Bearman is gaining confidence and setting ambitious goals for his future. “Honestly, in five years I hope to be fighting for the World Championship,” said Oliver Bearman. “I hope to be able to prove that I deserve to be at that level, in a top team, and to show what I’m really made of.”
“So far, there have been some exceptional moments,” he added. “I was really happy with my debut in Saudi Arabia, obviously. But this year we’ve had some good races. Bahrain was fantastic — I fought hard from the back of the grid and managed to score points. There have also been races where I felt I did very well but didn’t get the chance to prove it, like Monaco and Imola. The 2024 Jeddah race is definitely my best moment so far, but I hope many more will come.”
