Ferrari has officially confirmed a change to its F1 Academy line-up for the 2026 season, welcoming 16-year-old Danish driver Alba Larsen to MP Motorsport. She will replace Maya Weug, who completed her second and final season with the Maranello team in 2025, in accordance with the series regulations.
Alba Larsen, from Roskilde, already competed in the all-female feeder series last season, achieving two fourth-place finishes and ending the season seventh overall. Her signing marks an important step in her career, continuing her partnership with MP Motorsport, the same team she debuted with in 2025 alongside Maya Weug.
The young driver faces a demanding program for 2026. In addition to racing in the all-female F1 Academy series promoted by Formula 1, she will also take part in the British F4 Championship. Alba Larsen is considered one of Ferrari’s most promising emerging talents, and her competitive season will kick off in the F4 UAE Championship during the winter months.
Alba Larsen: a rising star for Ferrari
Alba joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in August 2025, having drawn attention for her victory in the fourth edition of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars program, which promotes young female talent in motorsport. She proved her potential during the 2025 F1 Academy season by finishing seventh in the overall standings.
The 2026 F1 Academy season will begin in Shanghai, China, from March 13 to 15. The drivers will then travel to Saudi Arabia and Canada before starting the European leg of the season, which includes races at Silverstone and Zandvoort. The penultimate round will take place in Austin, with the season finale returning to the United States in Las Vegas.
With Alba Larsen now on board, Ferrari continues to invest in nurturing the next generation of female talent, aiming to strengthen its presence in the F1 Academy and broader motorsport ecosystem.
