During the last few years, as team principals of their respective teams (Alfa Romeo and Scuderia Ferrari), Frederic Vasseur and Mattia Binotto have constantly enjoyed a very solid working relationship and this situation has not been affected even by recent events, as the French manager replaced Mattia Binotto at the top of the Ferrari Formula 1 Racing Division.
Mattia Binotto left the Italian side at the end of the previous Formula 1 championship, having lost the support of chariman John Elkann and chief executive officer Benedetto Vigna due to a season that was marked by several operational mistakes and poor strategy decisions from the Maranello pit wall led during the last four years by Mattia Binotto.
Despite the fact that he left the Maranello team after almost three decades of working in various roles for Ferrari, a few days ago Mattia Binotto was seen on an administrative visit in Maranello when he encountered his successor and the pair enjoyed an impromptu discussion, looking very relaxed and amicable. And why not, taking into consideration the fact that the Italian manager was the man who led the staff which worked on the SF-23 car, which can hopefully challenge Red Bull and Mercedes in the upcoming season.
At the same time, when Scuderia Ferrari runs through your veins, as is the case for Mattia Binotto, it is hard to stay away from Maranello.
