Former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg was joined by Sky Sports pundits Simon Lazenby and Martin Brundle to discuss the challenges that Formula One’s trickiest circuit has to offer, ahead of the first free practice session for the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix:
“It is the ultimate challenge because you have to build up through it the whole weekend,” Nico Rosberg explained – “You cannot never afford the slightest mistake because if you make mistake you are in the wall and that can be the end of your weekend. It is this rhythm you have to build up and you have to be perfect all the time.” – said, as Martin Brundle added: “It is the Everest of Formula One races.”
Former world champion with Mercedes Nico Rosberg has also praised the early-season performances of both title contenders Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, but the former F1 driver admitted that he expects the Ferrari Monegasque driver to be quicker this weekend on the streets of Monte Carlo in front of his own fans:
“I think he’s had a strong season overall,” Nico Rosberg said of Red Bull Racing Dutch driver Max Verstappen – “He has just been let down by the reliability of the car in the early races, but he’s been driving phenomenally well. At the same time Charles Leclerc is driving like a future world champion at the moment. In Barcelona it was Charles Leclerc who was absolutely dominant, and as a result the championship is totally open. But I do expect Leclerc to be the favourite here.” – Former Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg, in his Monaco Grand Prix preview for Sky Sports.
