Formula 1 faces a significant blow linked to Lewis Hamilton: Neat Burger, the well-known vegan burger chain actively promoted and supported by the Ferrari Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton and Hollywood actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio, has officially entered voluntary liquidation. This decision follows a prolonged period of financial losses that culminated in the closure of the company’s last remaining restaurants in both the United Kingdom and New York City during the years 2024 and 2025.
According to official documents, on July 22, 2025, the company’s shareholders voted to dissolve the business voluntarily, assigning FRP Advisory the responsibility of managing the liquidation process. At the time of the latest financial statements, Neat Burger held approximately £1,279,000 in assets; however, a continuous decline in revenue combined with a drastic decrease in customer footfall marked the darkest period in the company’s history. Founded in 2019, Neat Burger once dreamed of rapid global expansion and was valued at an impressive market capitalization of £51 million just a few years ago.
In 2023 alone, the company suffered a staggering financial loss of £16.2 million—the worst annual result since its inception—with the closure of iconic locations such as Camden and Wembley leading to about 150 employees losing their jobs. Despite substantial investments from international celebrities and a significant fundraising campaign that once positioned Neat Burger as a leading brand in sustainable fast food, these efforts were not enough to reverse the downward trend. Changes in consumer lifestyles after the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise of smart working practices, and intense competition from food delivery platforms further worsened the company’s situation. Consequently, Neat Burger was forced to shutter almost all of its outlets and abandon ambitious plans for new openings in Italy and other parts of the world.
