On the Fiorano circuit’s second day of testing, Charles Leclerc assumes the driver’s seat. The Monegasque racer picks up from where his teammate Carlos Sainz left off yesterday (September 5th) at the Maranello team’s private circuit, complete with an artificial irrigation system. This setup enables Pirelli to conduct specialized tests independent of weather conditions, furthering the collection of data for the development of intermediate tires that won’t require pre-heating. It appears that this is the direction being pursued to introduce a single wet tire compound in the 2024 Formula 1 season.
