The communication issues from Saturday unfortunately continued also on Sunday for Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc. After the incident in Q3 which caused the Ferrari number 16 to lose the third position achieved in qualifying, even in Monaco’s Sunday race, there were some mishaps in the radio communication between Charles Leclerc and his Ferrari race engineer Xavi Marcos.
The home Grand Prix concluded with a sixth-place finish for the Monegasque driver of Ferrari. Starting sixth after the post-qualifying penalty, Charles Leclerc finished where he started. After the evident problems in qualifying that led to a three-place penalty, the Monegasque also faced some minor problems in the team radio communication with Xavi Marcos during the Monte Carlo race. Let’s look at two instances.
The first one. It’s around lap 45, Charles Leclerc has just switched to the medium tires, and rain would make the race unpredictable in a few laps. At this moment, the pit wall is providing some instructions to Charles Leclerc, who, however, being focused, doesn’t appreciate the timing: “Xavi, don’t talk to me in the corner!”
From a communication problem to a probable technical one. It is at the checkered flag that the team radio between Xavi Marcos and Charles Leclerc becomes quite unclear. It seems that there are some issues with the radio. The engineer’s voice is clear, but the driver’s voice is less audible.

The Ferrari driver opens the team radio, asking his engineer for some information, but the volume of the Monegasque’s voice is very low. The Spanish engineer replies, “Sorry, I can’t understand you.” The driver responds, the audio is still compromised, and only one sentence is audible: “Did we lose a lot of time…?”
At this point, Marcos exclaims, “I’ll be right back with you,” but the communication remains difficult, and that’s how it ends.
