F1 | Monza will change its appearance, but not its identity: second phase of redevelopment officially begins
Following the major renovation works completed in 2024, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is preparing to begin another significant phase of infrastructure development. The latest investment programme is designed to improve hospitality, media facilities and operational efficiency while ensuring the circuit continues to meet the highest standards required by international motorsport.
On Monday, June 22, the new construction site for the second phase of the redevelopment project was officially handed over. The planned works will significantly enhance the quality and capacity of the facilities dedicated to guests, partners, stakeholders, promoters and members of the media.
A brand-new Media Centre
One of the most important projects will be the construction of a new Media Centre, which will replace the historic Autodromo headquarters building that is currently no longer in use.
Located next to the main paddock, the new press facility will be specifically designed to meet the needs of journalists covering the international events hosted at the Temple of Speed throughout the year. The Media Centre will feature more than 400 workstations, along with a dedicated relaxation area to improve the working environment for accredited media personnel.
Hospitality and Race Control to receive major upgrades
Another key element of the redevelopment plan will focus on modernising the hospitality facilities and the Race Control building.
As part of the extensive refurbishment of the entire Paddock Building, the area traditionally used for the Paddock Club will receive a permanent roof structure, allowing the terrace to be used throughout the year regardless of weather conditions.
Combined with additional improvements to the pit building, these upgrades will significantly modernise Monza’s hospitality areas, making them more functional and versatile both during the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix and for events held throughout the year.
Race Control will also undergo a complete renovation, becoming more modern, efficient and user-friendly for race promoters, officials and competitors alike.
Preserving Monza’s identity
These projects form part of a broader redevelopment programme aimed at modernising the historic Italian circuit without compromising the unique character and heritage that have made Monza famous around the world as the “Temple of Speed” for more than a century.
The investments are considered strategically important to ensure the venue continues to evolve alongside the ever-changing demands of modern motorsport while strengthening its position as one of the world’s premier racing circuits.
Work to begin after the 2026 season
Construction will officially begin once the 2026 motorsport season has concluded and is scheduled to be completed by July 2027.
During this period, no racing activity will take place on the Monza circuit itself, although all areas of the venue not directly affected by the redevelopment will remain accessible. Further details regarding the sporting calendar and other activities during the construction period will be announced over the coming months in coordination with governing bodies, promoters and event organisers.
With this latest investment programme, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza is reaffirming its commitment to the future by combining innovation, functionality and sustainability while remaining fully respectful of its extraordinary history and its central role in world motorsport.
