The Monza racetrack will mark 100 years next season, in 2022. The celebrations have begun, as an absolute preview, in Dubai. The logo for the centenary of the “Temple of Speed”, a new icon of Made in Italy, was presented during the Beauty of Sport, Italian Sports Day, the day dedicated to Italian sport, organized by CONI (The Italian National Olympic Committee) at the Italian Pavilion of EXPO 2020 (Dubai), in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio.
In one hundred years the Monza has changed, the technology has changed, the rules have changed, but the emotions have remained the same. Monza is history thanks to the echo of the legendary Ferrari accomplishments of Juan Manuel Fangio, Alberto Ascari, Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda and all its rivals from Ayrton Senna to Lewis Hamilton.
2022 will be a special year for Formula 1 in Italy: beyond the centenary of the Monza circuit, Imola will host the second Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, as announced by Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group, with the president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò.
“In the next few years, there are many projects capable of bringing the Autodromo Nazionale Monza into a new era for mobility and motor sports; reliving its glorious history, as on today’s occasion in Dubai, is a great motivation for the future.” – said Giuseppe Redaelli, president of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
“Autodromo Nazionale Monza and Italian motorsport are increasingly protagonists in the world, with two rounds of the Formula 1 championship and two events of the World Rally Championship. Monza will continue to be a leading track for many disciplines of the motorsport in the future.” – added Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy.
