
The mid-season break is always a good time for reflections on the performance shown by the Formula 1 teams and drivers in the first half of the championship. Ferrari in 2021 showed a significant step forward in terms of pace and results. Charles Leclerc scored two pole positions in Monaco and Baku, finishing second on the podium at Silverstone, a race which the Monegasque driver led up until three laps to the end. Carlos Sainz for his part finished second in the Principality and third in Hungary as a result of the disqualification of Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel. The team led on track and in the factory by Mattia Binotto is third in the constructors’ standings on equal points with McLaren, but ahead given the better positions obtained.
