Charles Leclerc focused on task and responsibility of bringing Ferrari back on top. Charles feels ‘duty’ to bring Ferrari success.

Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc admitted that he is fully focused on the “incredible challenge” of being entrusted with the responsability of bringing lasting success back to Scuderia Ferrari in the next seasons. After a completely disappointing 2020 Formula One season, Ferrari bounced back this season, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz fighting McLaren for third place in the Constructors’ standings, while the Monegasque driver also looks ahead and reflects on the duty to put the Maranello team back at the head of the Formula 1 grid.

With just one week until the end of the summer break , Charles is three points behind team-mate Carlos Sainz, as the Italian side is level with McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship, behind the top two teams, Mercedes and Red Bull.

Charles Leclerc also managed to score to poles this year, in Monaco and Baku, but is aware that for the moment Ferrari cannot challenge Mercedes and Red Bull in normal conditions and on a regular basis. Yet the Monegasque driver feels confident the team is ready to continue the constant improvement and challenge for the title as soon as next year:

“Obviously, I would love to be in the fight for the title with them and it’s great to see there is actually a battle. On the other hand, I am very happy with where I am now and it’s an incredible challenge to have the duty to bring Ferrari back to the top. The story will only be better if we managed to do so as a team. We’ll keep working and I’m sure the happiness will come very soon. The last races show we are doing something right. We have been working very hard. If you look where we started at the beginning of last year and where we are now, it is a very different situation and I think this is because, and thanks to, all the work from the team. So I am confident everything we are doing is going in the right direction. It doesn’t give us any certainty that it will be much better next year, but I feel like if we keep working like this I trust we will be back to where want to be, which is to win regularly very soon.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
