Ferrari Driver Academy member Mick Schumacher has paid tribute to his seven-time Formula One world champion father Michael with a new and special helmet design which he will be using in the 2022 F1 campaign.
The young German driver’s new lid will include a chinese dragon on it, a symbol worn by his father during his amazing Formula One career.
The dragon was initially linked to the famed Schumacher name, after a Chinese newspaper printed it as a symbol for the seven-time world champion during his racing days. The symbol – that represents both power and strength – will therefore return to the track in 2022, now thanks to Michael’s son, who is ready for his second Formula 1 championship after making his debut last year.
As well as the Chinese dragon, Mick Schumacher’s new helmet will also feature seven stars his father displayed on his headwear, which came long before he had won his seventh Formula One world championship.

The Ferrari junior will be hoping for a much better season after his point-less maiden campaign. At just 22-years-old he no doubt has a long Formula 1 career ahead of him and many Ferrari fans are eager to see him drive for the Maranello team in the future.
The German will get the chance to show his skills in 2022, as Haas is confident of being able to provide him with an improved car as a result of the introduction of new rules and regulations this year, with the goal of making the series more entertaining and competitive.
Ahead of the new 2022 Formula 1 season, Mick Schumacher confirmed that his goal will be to constantly score points, after a disappointing 2021 championship that saw them finish bottom of the standings:
“I think it’s important to look back, to learn and to see what we could’ve done better. Obviously this year is an important year. I think we have all the car tools in place, hopefully, which will bring us forwards and hopefully consistently in the points. I think it’s a year where everybody can show what they have. Obviously it’s new regulations, teams are now able to show that they’ve been working very hard and it kind of pays off. But same for the drivers. We are able now to show that we can adapt and adapt quickly to a new car and I think that’s something that I would set as a target: trying to adapt as quick as possible to the new regulations and a new car.” – the Ferrari junior explained.
