Mick Schumacher, the son of Ferrari great and seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher, will race in Formula One next season.
The 21-year-old German, who is leading the Formula Two championship ahead of the final round at Bahrain’s Sakhir circuit this weekend, has signed for Haas F1 Team.
“The prospect of being on the Formula One grid next year makes me incredibly happy and I’m simply speechless,” Schumacher, who is also a member of the Ferrari young driver program, said – “I also want to acknowledge and extend my love to my parents — I know that I owe them everything. I have always believed that I would realise my dream of Formula One. A huge thank you must also go to all the great motorsport fans out there who have supported me throughout my career. I will give it my all, as I always do, and I look forward to going on this journey together with Haas F1 and them.”
Mick’s Formula 1 race number will be #47:
“The number 4 and the 7 are my favourites. Because all numbers are already taken, I have chosen 47. If you add up all the birthdays in the family, you get 47. It was quite obvious that we would take this number.” – the Ferrari Driver Academy talent explained.
Michael = [3].01.
Corinna = [2].03
Gina = [20].02
Mick = [22].03
