Michael Schumacher’s, Mick, is reportedly being targeted by Toro Rosso as they shake-up their team for the 2019 season. Toro Rosso are still searching for a replacement for Pierre Gasly, who will join Max Verstappen at Red Bull.
Daniel Ricciardo’s stunning switch to Renault, which was announced over the summer break, led to the Austrian outfit promoting Gasly to their main team. Brendon Hartley has yet to agree a new deal to stay with Toro Rosso so it may be that they have two completely new drivers next season. And recent reports suggest they are looking to add Mick Schumacher to their budding ranks. Schumacher has put together a remarkable late-season run in Formula Three to win six of his last 10 races.
For an F3 driver to be allowed to race in Formula 1 they must secure a podium finish at the end of the season and have 20 Super License points.
The 19-year-old looks well on track to hit both of those target so long as he avoids any major slip-ups during the final stretch of the campaign. According to motorsport.com, Red Bull are hoping to sign Mick Schumacher to a deal until at least 2020, whether that be to race in F1 or F2.
