In less than two months, it will have been ten years since the skiing accident involving Michael Schumacher occurred while he was in the mountains on that tragic December 29th. In 2013, the German driver was placed in a coma while in a hospital in Geneva, Switzerland. The following year, with the authorization of doctors, he was transferred to his apartment, where he has since resided and continues his rehabilitation therapy. Since 2014, however, information about his health conditions has been extremely sparse.
Michael Schumacher’s friend and former Ferrari team principal, Jean Todt, explained that he has watched some races with Schumacher on TV, while his wife, Corinne, stated in the Netflix documentary “Schumacher” that “Michael is here, but in a different way.” However, most fans would like to know the current conditions of the former Ferrari driver, and the silence surrounding this matter has given rise to many speculations. In recent months, we also reported on the scandal that erupted in Germany following a fake interview generated with artificial intelligence.
Recently, however, Felix Damm, Michael Schumacher’s lawyer, who has been dealing with the media for some time, discussed the issues that the family has had to address regarding the information released. Below are his words.
Felix Damm discusses Michael Schumacher’s current conditions:
As reported by racingnews365, Felix Damm stated: “It has always been about protecting private matters. Of course, we have discussed extensively how this can be done. We considered whether a final report on Michael’s health would be the right way to do it, but it wouldn’t end there, and there would have to be constantly updated reports because the media could pick up such a report and ask, ‘And how is he now,’ one, two, three months, or even years after the message.”
Michael Schumacher’s lawyer then concluded by saying: “I was amazed by what the media reported even though there is no reliable information, and how they can put together alleged stories from scratch. It has reached the point where someone simply invented an interview by generating it through artificial intelligence and then put it on the front page. I believe that the vast majority of fans can handle the topic well and respect the fact that the accident set in motion a process in which privacy is necessary and will continue to be observed.” – he concluded.
