After the official confirmation that the Miami Grand Prix would join the Formula 1 calendar for the current championship, there was a lot of attention and discussion for an event with high expectations. The focus of the Formula 1 fans the entire world was directed to the Miami International Autodrome, a purpose-built temporary circuit around Hard Rock Stadium and its private facilities in the Miami suburb of Miami Gardens, and of course the pressure on organizers was huge ahead of the first edition of the Miami Grand Prix.
The maiden race was a big success, as the weekend proved to be efficiently run: next season, the organizers plan to continue the trend and even go one step further by welcoming more F1 fans and providing the drivers with a more beautiful track, based on the feedback from this season
In a recent discussion with RacingNews365, Tyler Epp, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the F1 Miami Grand Prix, confirms that they are already working hard to prepare the 2023 event:
“We are very pleased with last year’s race, and of course when I say last year I have to correct myself immediately,” jokes Tyler Epp, who then realized that the Grand Prix was only held a few months ago and therefore still in 2022: “Time goes so fast and we are already working so hard for the next event, that you sometimes think that the first one is already longer behind us.” – he added.
Tyler Epp was especially happy for how the first Miami Grand Prix – which was held in May – was able to bring the community together, as well as welcoming people from all over the world.
“We are very satisfied with the result of the first edition. Not only in terms of the race weekend and the fans who enjoyed the event, but also because we managed to involve the community around the stadium. That is also something we will do again next year, it is important that our community is involved in the event. We are an international city where many people live who have roots in other countries. Partly because of that, we attract a lot of people from outside America and so in 2023 we will again see a lot of people from outside America back in the stands. Additionally, in 2023, we will make sure to add many more grandstand seats and we will make even more use of the Hard Rock Stadium from where people can watch the race.” – he explained.
The Miami International Autodrome, which hosts the F1 event, is actually a venue normally used by the professional American football team based in the Miami metropolitan area, the Miami Dolphins.

Taking into consideration the stadium’s general use as a sporting venue, the facilities were prepared for the teams, drivers, fans and media in the best way possible and it is no surprise that the F1 paddock is eagerly waiting for the next editions of the Grand Prix, despite he fact that some drivers would like to see some changes to the circuit.
“The circuit is the most important part when you organize a Grand Prix. We have got the feedback from Formula 1, the FIA and the drivers and we are using their input to improve the circuit in certain places. Right now, we are working with the different parties to see where and what we can improve on the track. We do this by listening to the constructive criticism in particular at the moment. In the coming months, we will have clarity on exactly what needs to be done and we can start working on that.” – the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the F1 Miami Grand Prix concluded.
