The new adventure of Luca Colajanni
Andrea Stella reunites at McLaren with another historic former member of Ferrari’s legendary team from the Michael Schumacher era. Starting from the upcoming US Grand Prix in Austin, the Woking-based team will have Italian Luca Colajanni as its new director of communications, replacing outgoing head Sophie Ogg.
Luca Colajanni, 59, is a well-known figure in the paddock. He worked at Ferrari from 1992 to 2014, then returned to Maranello as a communications consultant from 2020, after having roles at Marussia, in the FIA, and in Formula 1 media communications following Liberty Media’s arrival. After a brief stint in Formula E and with the Italian Tennis Federation, he returned to the Grand Prix world in 2023 as Motorsport Media Relations Advisor at Pirelli, a role he held until recently.
Luca Colajanni will officially start his new role from Wednesday, October 8, according to F1 journalist Thomas Maher on PlanetF1. Sophie Ogg, who had taken over the position from former press officer Steve Atkins in February, left McLaren after the Azerbaijan GP in Baku due to personal life choices and the distance from her home to Woking headquarters. The entire ScuderiaFans.com team sends Luca their best wishes as he embarks on this exciting new adventure.
