Ferrari has collected just 38 points over the last four Grands Prix, less than half of what Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes have scored, and only slightly more than Williams.
Ferrari plunges after the summer break
The return from the summer break was expected to bring new momentum for Ferrari, boosted by the Spa podium and the Hungarian Grand Prix pole position. Instead, the Scuderia has plateaued, while Red Bull and Mercedes have taken the performance leap that Maranello has long been chasing.
The slow restart has had significant consequences: Ferrari not only lost second place in the Constructors’ Championship to Mercedes, but also risks falling out of the top three. Red Bull, effectively with just one driver, has closed the gap to eight points with Max Verstappen finishing second in Singapore.
The numbers after Zandvoort
The statistics from the last four race weekends are harsh, forcing Ferrari to look backward rather than aim for second place in a championship that McLaren now dominates. Here is the Constructors’ Championship ranking considering only races after the summer break:
| Pos. | Team | Points after summer break |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Red Bull | 96 |
| 2 | McLaren | 91 |
| 3 | Mercedes | 89 |
| 4 | Ferrari | 38 |
| 5 | Williams | 32 |
| 6 | Racing Bulls | 27 |
| 7 | Aston Martin | 16 |
| 8 | Haas | 11 |
| 9 | Kick Sauber | 4 |
| 10 | Alpine | 0 |
Since the summer break, Ferrari has earned less than half the points of Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren. On the podium front, the Scuderia has not achieved any top-three finishes in the last four races, while Williams and Racing Bulls, who had last been on the podium in 2021, have managed to do so during this period.
Even among individual drivers, these four races have extended Lewis Hamilton’s negative streak, making him one of only two Ferrari drivers in history (the other being Didier Pironi) not to reach the podium in the first 18 Grands Prix in red. If he also misses out in Austin, he would hold this record alone.
