The Dutchman means business
It was a classic ‘green hell’ qualifying session ahead of the Nürburgring 4 Hours, which is set to start at 12:00 on the legendary Nordschleife. Drivers began the session on a track that was wet and foggy – conditions that caused a slight delay – before switching to slick tyres as the asphalt improved.
Max Verstappen, at the wheel of the #31 Ferrari 296 GT3 prepared by Emil Frey Racing, set the third fastest time overall, finishing three seconds behind pole-sitter Christian Krognes, who drives the #34 Aston Martin of Walkenhorst Motorsport. Second place went to Franck Stippler in the Audi. Looking only at the category Max Verstappen is entered in, he was the outright fastest, pulling eight seconds clear of Joel Sturm in the Porsche.
“I had too much traffic and my last lap was not good,” Max Verstappen admitted immediately after qualifying. “The target for the race is victory, we can do it, but we will have to see how it goes.” The race will get underway at 12:00 and will be available via live streaming on ScuderiaFans.com. Max Verstappen will share the cockpit with Chris Lulham.
