“Starting with the soft tyres was the fastest strategy, we were convinced, but even with mediums or hards, nothing would have changed for us. We didn’t have the speed and pace. What was the problem? We certainly didn’t prepare the race well, but we didn’t suffer in a specific area. We had problems with the power unit all weekend but also with the car, I think we lacked traction and from a balance point of view. I think the drivers struggled with handling the car, we will hear from them in a meeting. At this time there is no single and certain answer, there are many factors.” – Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto concluded after Carlos Sainz finished the Mexican Grand Prix in fifth place, ahead of his Maranello teammate, but far behind the top four.
