Despite Ferrari not having officially announced Carlos Sainz’s renewal yet, reports from Spain suggest that the F1 driver is simply waiting for a suitable offer from the Prancing Horse.
While Charles Leclerc’s renewal has already been settled, Carlos Sainz will have to wait a bit longer before celebrating his extension with Ferrari. Amid the many speculations circulating these days, the intention of both parties to continue together is clear, even though the duration of the new contract will likely be shorter than that of his teammate, who will remain in Maranello at least until 2027.
Carlos Sainz’s renewal on standby: no concerns from Spain
With a potential and increasingly concrete interest from Audi in 2026 and negotiations that would have stalled, today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo attempted to clarify a situation with increasingly intricate details: “It has been said that Carlos Sainz has made some requests to Ferrari that the Italians do not want to grant him, which is not true. Nor are the negotiations ‘on hold.’
“Simply, the Spaniard is waiting for a concrete proposal from the team, aware of the positive context in which he finds himself.”
Despite Fred Vasseur‘s strong preference for Charles Leclerc, the Scuderia in Maranello has no intention of depriving itself of Carlos Sainz’s performances, knowing that finding a valid alternative on the market is not easy: “If both parties are willing to understand each other, they will understand each other. In this sense, the situation between Ferrari and Carlos is clear. There is no tension, no quarrels, no disagreements.”
Carlos Sainz himself, questioned about the matter a few weeks ago, reiterated that he currently sees himself in no other team than Ferrari: “My priority, of course, is to continue working at Ferrari. At the moment, I don’t see any better place in F1 than a team like Ferrari, which has the ambition to win.”

“I want to win another race as soon as possible and, if possible, fight for a championship. Since we both share a goal, and if that team is Ferrari, I don’t see why not continue.” – the Spaniard pointed out.
With less than a month left until the start of the season and three weeks until the Bahrain tests, last December, Fred Vasseur made it clear: the renewal for both will come before the start of the championship. Part of the promise has been kept; now it’s time to complete the job.
