Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari future hinges on 2026
The bond between Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari, and his future in Formula 1 appears set to reach a decisive moment in 2026. That year, with its new technical regulations and the direction chosen by the Scuderia, could shape not only the competitiveness of the car but also the British champion’s forthcoming career decisions.
After a season marked by ups and downs, Lewis Hamilton seems to have regained some of his confidence behind the wheel of the Ferrari. The second half of the season showed encouraging signs. Apart from a significant error in Zandvoort, his performances gradually aligned more closely with those of teammate Charles Leclerc. In Singapore, Lewis Hamilton was on course to finish in fifth place before a brake issue ultimately affected his final result.
When the red becomes a bet for tomorrow
According to Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate at McLaren, the 2026 season will serve as a true turning point in the career of the seven-time world champion. The Ferrari, Jenson Button explained on Sky Sports F1, must provide a car capable of consistently fighting for victory. Only then will we see the best version of the British driver. “We have witnessed brilliant moments during the year. However, there wasn’t enough consistency throughout the season to give us full confidence in the car. He doesn’t have the same group of people around him that he had for years at Mercedes when he was world champion. It takes time,” Jenson Button said.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton has reaffirmed his determination to bring Ferrari back to the top of Formula 1. In a post shared across his social media channels, the British driver expressed his desire to tackle this challenge with the same hunger for success that has always defined him. In this regard, Button added, “Next year’s regulation change, which will be massive, will determine whether we see the best version of Lewis or if he might start thinking about leaving.”
