Lewis Hamilton’s brutal McLaren remarks hint at long-term Ferrari commitment beyond 2025. Lewis Hamilton struggles with Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car but remains determined to stay beyond 2025.

Lewis Hamilton Faces Early Ferrari Struggles but Remains Committed to Long-Term Success

Lewis Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari has proven challenging, with the seven-time World Champion struggling to adapt to his new environment just five races into the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Over the winter, Ferrari made a bold move by completely redesigning their car to align with Lewis Hamilton’s arrival, aiming to deliver a machine capable of ending their long championship drought. However, early results suggest the gamble has not yet paid off. The team currently sits fourth in the constructors’ standings, two positions lower than they finished in 2024, when they narrowly missed the title by just 14 points after a strong campaign.

Hamilton now faces a significant task in helping to steer Ferrari back toward winning ways, though it is not a situation unfamiliar to him. Throughout his career, the British driver has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to overcome adversity.

One major hurdle for the Briton has been adapting to Ferrari’s power unit, marking the first time in his career he has raced without a Mercedes engine. After 17 years of familiarity with the Mercedes setup, the transition to an entirely different package presents a complex technical and operational challenge.

Looking ahead, there is cautious optimism. Formula 1’s new regulations, including a catch-up proposal tentatively agreed upon among the teams, aim to help underperforming outfits close the gap to the front—potentially offering Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari an opportunity to recover and rejoin the title battle.

Hamilton’s extensive experience at the highest level of motorsport has equipped him with the resilience needed to weather difficult seasons. A prime example came in 2009, during his tenure with McLaren, when the team dropped from championship contention to midfield struggles.

Rather than seeking a quick exit, the British driver remained loyal to McLaren through the tough times. Reflecting on that period, Lewis Hamilton once explained how tough the early races of that season had been. Speaking to The Mirror, he revealed that despite the hardship, he valued those difficult experiences for the lessons they taught him. He specifically recalled the painful moments of the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix and admitted that calling his bosses to tell them how poor the car was felt “awful” at the time.

These memories highlight the depth of Hamilton’s perseverance. His current situation with Ferrari is unlikely to prompt an early departure. If anything, the challenge of turning Ferrari into a title-winning force again seems likely to fuel his desire even more. Hamilton remains under contract until the end of 2026, and all signs suggest he is fully committed to seeing the project through.

How Lewis Hamilton’s Expertise Could Help Ferrari’s Formula 1 Revival

In the past, Ferrari’s Achilles’ heel often lay in their inability to develop their car effectively over the course of a season—a flaw that arguably cost them championship opportunities in both 2017 and 2018.

Recent seasons, however, have shown significant improvement in Ferrari’s in-season development capabilities. With Lewis Hamilton’s wealth of experience now added to their ranks, there is a strong foundation for further growth. His technical feedback and understanding of car evolution could prove pivotal.

Hamilton’s insights will be vital in steering Ferrari’s development path, and it is equally critical that the team listens and adapts accordingly. Trust between driver and team will be essential for success.

Despite criticism from figures such as Helmut Marko, who recently claimed Lewis Hamilton is “desperate,” the British driver has shown no signs of crumbling under pressure. His demeanor during media appearances remains calm and composed, underscoring one of his greatest strengths: his unwavering loyalty and patience.

There is still a long season ahead, and with the British driver’s guidance, Ferrari retains every chance of finding the speed and performance needed. For Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, the 2025 campaign is only the beginning of a much bigger journey.
