The team radio exchanges between Lewis Hamilton and the Ferrari pit wall during the Miami GP are still being talked about. Journalist Ted Kravitz has suggested three scenarios that may have triggered Lewis Hamilton’s reaction.
The final laps of the Miami GP sparked tension between the Ferrari pit wall and the seven-time World Champion. The heated team radio between Lewis Hamilton and his new race engineer at Ferrari, Riccardo Adami, was analyzed by Sky Sports UK journalist Ted Kravitz.
The F1 expert tried to imagine three different scenarios that might have led Lewis Hamilton to speak that way to his team. Even though the two Ferrari drivers were not fighting for victory, but rather for seventh place, their competitive spirit was on full display. Hamilton himself admitted after the race that he had no intention of apologizing “for being a fighter” and for his desire to win. However, the British driver also emphasized that the tone and language used in his team radios were purely sarcastic.
Ferrari’s strategy
In the latest episode of the podcast “The F1 Show,” Ted Kravitz also pointed the finger at Ferrari’s strategy, admitting: “It’s the first time Lewis is on the receiving end, possibly the wrong end, of the famous Ferrari strategy, ‘we’ll get back to you,’ which has entertained and infuriated Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in the past.” That may have been the spark that provoked Lewis Hamilton’s reaction.
Ted Kravitz proposed three scenarios during the podcast episode, saying: “The first scenario is that he feels more confident and happier, and everything is fine—he’s confident enough to say those things without worrying about any repercussions.”
The second scenario: “Maybe he’s not happy with what’s going on and wants to help reform the team. He wants to help Ravin Jain, the head of strategy, to be a bit sharper and to better interact with his engineer.”
The third scenario, and the least likely according to Ted Kravitz: “Maybe Lewis doesn’t care anymore, he’s not happy, and he’s just content to criticize them.”
