Nothing to be done for the Ferrari SF-25, as close as it is distant from rivals in F1: Lewis Hamilton has clear ideas, the focus must be on 2026.
With his mind on 2026, the Ferrari SF-25 is like “someone who doesn’t know how to dance,” said Lewis Hamilton at the finish of the Canadian GP. The British driver, once again a protagonist in the “no man’s land” of the race, calls for big changes. The future Maranello will have its (strong) influence, and the first step must be to focus on the next car, the first of the new technical era.
A contributing factor has been bad luck, but Montreal was another bitter race for Ferrari. The pace is there, close to that of their direct rivals, but not enough to recover from a complicated and unlucky qualifying. Starting at the back doesn’t help and will continue not to help. While Frédéric Vasseur admits difficulties in operational phases and promises changes, Lewis Hamilton believes it’s time to throw in the towel.
Ferrari SF-25: a car that “doesn’t know how to dance”
The metaphor used by Lewis Hamilton, in an interview with Canal+, perfectly explains his feelings: “This car… It’s like a person who doesn’t know how to dance. A person who just doesn’t have rhythm, you know? It’s like trying to give rhythm to someone who just doesn’t have it, it’s really, really hard. That’s how I feel with this car.”
The Brit asks for updates — and his team principal can finally assure him that these will soon be on the car — but he also admits that it is probably time to think about 2026: “Look, we’re already halfway through the championship,” he said in an interview with DAZN, ESPN, and Fox Sports. “We keep fighting for a handful of points, sure, but it’s time to focus on next season.” – he pointed out.
The goal is only one: to make sure not to repeat the mistakes made this year. “We have to make sure we don’t have the same problems, that we will be in the fight for the title next year.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion concluded after the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.
