Fred Vasseur commented on Ferrari’s and Robert Kubica’s victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Mid-June is no longer just another Sunday for Maranello’s Red team. At Le Mans, Ferrari achieved its third consecutive victory thanks to Robert Kubica, who was praised by Fred Vasseur himself.
The Polish driver managed to take his revenge after several incidents that seriously compromised his career. A comeback, after years and years of suffering and bad luck, which was widely celebrated on social media by insiders and fans alike.
Fred Vasseur praises Robert Kubica and Ferrari
Among those who congratulated Robert Kubica was Fred Vasseur, Team Principal of a Ferrari team that is much more struggling than the one competing in the Endurance World Championship. “I have a very close relationship with Robert. We worked together both at Sauber and in Formula Renault. Regarding the teams that raced at Le Mans, the main advantage is linked to stability. The six drivers of the official cars are always the same, and then there is Robert on the other car. Consistency and experience made the difference. I am really proud of what Ferrari has done, with three cars in the top four leading to three consecutive wins,” said the former Alfa Romeo principal.
“Going back to Kubica, he is an alien. Winning under those circumstances is incredible. I remember when Kimi Raikkonen had Covid at Zandvoort and Robert got in the car; at first he couldn’t even steer properly. But in the race, he fought Sebastian Vettel until the last corner. It was incredible,” Fred Vasseur added.
Many, given doubts about the current Team Principal’s future, would like Antonello Coletta, Ferrari’s current Global Head of Endurance and Client Racing, to lead the Scuderia. For now, these are only rumors since Fred Vasseur himself wanted to reassure about the contract renewal negotiations.
