A two-faced Lewis Hamilton in Barcelona
“The car is undrivable.” A laconic and clear-cut Lewis Hamilton summed up all of Ferrari’s problems in FP2 in Barcelona, which scaled back the promising signs from the first free practice session at the Catalan circuit.
From the start of the afternoon session, the seven-time world champion complained about the SF-25, which notably struggled in race pace simulations. The drop-off was evident even over a single lap: Lewis Hamilton only managed to improve by half a second compared to the morning, while all the other frontrunners gained at least seven tenths (Oscar Piastri even by a second and a half).
Lewis Hamilton’s words
Even after cooling off, Sir Lewis Hamilton confirmed he had not had a positive feeling from the Catalan afternoon: “It wasn’t a fun day. We keep our heads down and keep working. There’s no giving up, we move forward, we keep pushing and trying to solve the problems. You get to Friday and hope for a good day, but it didn’t turn out that way.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion pointed out.
“Honestly, I thought the car would be good today, and actually it wasn’t bad in FP1, but in the afternoon it was much worse. Naturally, this is frustrating for everyone, but we had some issues that made us lose a bit of downforce. Hopefully, once we fix that, we’ll be in a better position for qualifying.” – Lewis Hamilton concluded at the end of the second free practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix.
