Ferrari found reasons to smile once again at the second American round of the season. In Austin, Charles Leclerc delivered an outstanding drive to secure third place on the podium, finishing just ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton. This result was crucial for the Maranello-based team, which had been in a seemingly inescapable crisis after the summer break. The achievement came only twenty-four hours after a direct intervention from John Elkann, who reaffirmed his confidence in team principal Frédéric Vasseur.
The team principal of Scuderia Ferrari had described the situation after Saturday’s qualifying session as “frustrating” for the squad. The lack of any upgrades on the car had significant psychological repercussions, yet it did not alter the team’s objectives. A victory remains the ultimate goal for the Scuderia, but the team continues to focus on securing second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Lewis Hamilton faces late-race scare in Austin
During the closing laps of the Austin Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton appeared to suffer from a slow puncture. The British driver reported via radio to his race engineer a possible issue with the front-right tire. Riccardo Adami responded that, according to the data analysis, there did not seem to be any immediate problems with the SF-25.
Despite this, the #44 driver lost several seconds on the final lap, reiterating his concerns over the team radio: “Something happened to my front-right, I don’t know what it is.” Ferrari will likely conduct more detailed analyses to determine the exact nature of the problem. Nevertheless, the seven-time world champion managed to finish in fourth place, thanking the team for their effort: “Great job, thanks everyone, let’s keep pushing.”
