The Ferrari driver is relying on strategy to recover ground in today’s Dutch Grand Prix.
The British driver is happy to be back in Q3
“I’m happy to be back in Q3, all the guys working with me deserved it.” Lewis Hamilton, after the summer break, has decided to restart by setting goals that at the beginning of the season seemed obvious, but then too often turned out to be difficult to achieve. One of them was reaching Q3, which had become a challenge after the heavy setbacks at Spa and Budapest.
At the end of qualifying, the Ferrari driver appeared more confident in the mixed zone during the interview round. He explained that he has decided to focus on his own work and feelings without being influenced by what happens on Charles Leclerc’s side of the garage: “I tried several times this year to follow his direction, but it was never positive for me – Lewis Hamilton explained – I’m trying to extract performance from the car by exploring every detail, from tyre pressures to tyre blanket temperatures, as well as the ride height at the front and rear. I understood that I should not excessively change the parameters with this generation of cars, but instead make small adjustments and see if they work.”
Lewis Hamilton looks to race strategy for the Dutch GP
Looking ahead to today’s race at 15:00, Lewis Hamilton believes that the Ferrari pit wall could take advantage of the fact that he and Charles Leclerc are starting close to each other on the grid in order to set different strategies to attack the cars in front of the two SF-25s: “I think our race pace could be better than what we managed to achieve in qualifying. I believe it would be appropriate to set different strategies since, apart from McLaren, we are the only team with two cars starting close together on the grid. By doing so, we could go on the attack against the cars ahead of us.”
