Lewis Hamilton has spoken out to defend Ferrari following the criticism the team has faced in the media after several challenging race weekends. The seven-time world champion wanted to send a message of support to the entire Scuderia after the Singapore Grand Prix, expressing his belief that Ferrari can bounce back and shielding the team from negative press.
The Prancing Horse has been increasingly in the spotlight, but not for reasons that fans would hope for. Ferrari has not won a World Championship in 17 years, and the responsibility lies squarely with those working at Maranello and the absent leadership at the top. The structural issues with the SF-25 stem from shortcomings in the technical team. Loic Serra’s development work, particularly a new suspension system, has come under scrutiny, with critics claiming it cost valuable time that could have been spent on aerodynamic upgrades. Following the media criticism, Lewis Hamilton has stepped in to protect Ferrari, sharing his thoughts on Instagram.
Hamilton: “I see the progress we’re making”
Hamilton said, “I’m also focusing on the positive aspects on track. The media headlines only tell part of the story, the part where things don’t go as we’d like or when mistakes happen. But what I’ve been focusing on in recent months is the other story: how this team reacts when things go wrong, how we get back up and start again. Yesterday was the perfect example. Our strategy was spot on, but a brake issue slowed us down just as we were finding our rhythm. Now, we return to the factory, analyze the race, and prepare for the next one. I am really proud of this team, and I want to help them achieve the results they deserve, just like the fans do.”
In the final stages of the race, Hamilton was one of the fastest drivers on track, thanks in part to the red tire. Fifth place for Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli was within reach, but extremely high brake temperatures became a major problem. Lewis Hamilton had to cut several corners to cool the brakes and avoid crashing, which resulted in a five-second penalty, dropping him to eighth position. Progress can be difficult to see in a team that appears to lack direction, starting from the attitudes and statements of Fred Vasseur. What is the mood behind the gates of Maranello? A complex question, while the 2026 project continues to move forward.
Lewis Hamilton concluded, “I see the progress we’re making and the hard work that goes into every weekend, but this is Ferrari. Progress alone isn’t enough. To reach greatness, we need to go further, we need to be better. We can achieve a lot together, and if we build on what we’ve done and make the necessary changes, I firmly believe we will get there. Forza Ferrari.”
