Lewis Hamilton received a high-profile pre-race greeting from Kim Kardashian ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, with the pair sharing an embrace before the Ferrari driver began his push for victory from third on the grid.
The brief moment came during the build-up to one of the Briton’s strongest starting positions of the Singapore weekend. With Charles Leclerc alongside him near the front and Ferrari showing competitive pace around Marina Bay, the seven-time world champion was preparing for a race in which the Scuderia had a genuine opportunity to challenge at the sharp end.
Lewis Hamilton and Kim Kardashian share pre-race Singapore GP moment
Hamilton and Kardashian exchanged a warm greeting before the start, adding a celebrity crossover to the final minutes before the Formula 1 field assembled for the race. The Ferrari driver was already firmly in competitive mode, having qualified third and placed himself directly in the fight behind the front row.
There was no suggestion that the encounter carried any sporting significance, but it was an unusual and notable moment during the pre-race build-up. Hamilton has long attracted attention well beyond Formula 1 because of his profile across fashion, entertainment and popular culture, making such encounters less surprising around major Grands Prix than they might be for most drivers.
For Ferrari supporters, however, the sporting context remained the important part. Hamilton was starting from P3 at Marina Bay, giving him a strong platform to attack for a podium and potentially more if opportunities emerged during the race.
Hamilton starts from third as Ferrari targets Singapore success
Hamilton’s grid position followed a qualifying session in which Ferrari had been competitive enough to place both cars near the front. Charles Leclerc secured second place, while Hamilton took third, leaving the two Ferrari drivers immediately behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen.
That result gave the Maranello team a significant presence at the front of the field. On a circuit where track position can be especially valuable, starting both cars inside the top three put Ferrari in a position to influence the race from the opening stages without needing to recover from deeper on the grid.
Hamilton had also demonstrated strong pace during qualifying before falling short of the perfect final lap. Nevertheless, third represented a realistic launching point for his Singapore Grand Prix challenge and ensured Ferrari entered the race with two drivers capable of putting pressure on Verstappen.
A lighter moment before a serious Ferrari challenge
The encounter with Kardashian therefore provided a contrasting scene immediately before the intensity of the race. Hamilton moved from the social atmosphere of the grid into a Grand Prix in which every position at the front carried major importance for Ferrari.
For the Briton, the task was straightforward: convert a strong qualifying result into a competitive race and take advantage of any opportunity to fight for the lead. The pre-race embrace may have been one of the lighter moments of the afternoon, but once Hamilton climbed into the Ferrari, attention returned entirely to his attempt to turn third on the grid into a Singapore Grand Prix result for the Scuderia.
