Lewis Hamilton says goodbye to his car collection
During the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he no longer owns any cars, including his Ferraris. The British driver, interviewed on media day, confessed that he has sold his entire collection. This came as a surprise to many fans, since Hamilton had been known for his exclusive garage, which once included unique models such as the Pagani Zonda 760 LH, a car he sold a few years ago for around 10 million euros.
Among all the drivers currently on the Formula 1 grid, Lewis Hamilton is without doubt the most versatile and multifaceted. Beyond his incredible career on track, he has also been involved in music, fashion, and art. His passion for cars was another well-known side of his personality, as he owned a vast collection that evolved over time depending on his lifestyle and priorities.
From supercars to sustainability
In the early days of his career, Lewis Hamilton’s garage reflected his taste for power and beauty, with high-performance cars taking center stage. However, in later years, his perspective shifted towards a more environmentally conscious approach. For quite some time, Lewis Hamilton’s collection had included only hybrid or fully electric models. Among these were his Mercedes-AMG One and two Ferrari LaFerrari models: a traditional red version and a white convertible version.
Lewis Hamilton focuses on art instead of cars
In Baku, the Ferrari driver confirmed that he has completely parted ways with his car collection. According to Hamilton, cars no longer have a place in his garage—he now prefers to dedicate that space to art. When asked whether he planned to buy the new Ferrari F80, Hamilton made his position clear: “I don’t have any cars anymore. These days, I’m much more interested in works of art.”
The exception: a Ferrari considered a masterpiece
Despite selling all of his vehicles, Hamilton admitted that there is one car that would always deserve a place in his garage: the Ferrari F40. As he explained, the reason is not linked to performance, but rather to its artistic value. “If I were to buy a car again, it would be the Ferrari F40. Because that is a wonderful work of art.”
Interestingly, earlier this season Hamilton spoke about his dream of designing a modern reinterpretation of the F40, a project he referred to as the “F44.” Whether this dream will ever become reality remains to be seen, but for Lewis Hamilton, the Ferrari F40 continues to represent the perfect balance between engineering and artistic creation.
