Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton is gearing up for an emotional and highly anticipated moment: his first home Grand Prix at Silverstone as a Scuderia Ferrari driver. The British driver will make his debut in front of his home fans wearing Ferrari red, hoping to deliver a strong result in what promises to be a memorable weekend for both him and the Tifosi.
Lewis Hamilton arrives at the 2025 British Grand Prix looking to build on Ferrari’s encouraging performance at the previous round in Austria. At the Red Bull Ring, the SF-25 showed significant improvement, establishing itself as the second-best car on the grid—although it still remains a step behind a dominant McLaren team.
Ahead of this special race at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts: “I hope we can be in a similar position to last weekend. I don’t really remember how Ferrari has performed here in the past—I never paid too much attention to them before,” he admitted during Thursday’s media session.
The British Grand Prix is known for its unpredictable weather, and Lewis Hamilton is well aware of the variables that can turn the tide over a race weekend. He explained: “On a dry day, I think McLaren will pull away from everyone, just like we saw at the last race. But here, you never know what might happen with the wind and the rain. The weather can really shake things up. The crowd plays a huge role too, and I’m hoping the fans can help us close the gap a little.” – he pointed out.
Lewis Hamilton has yet to step onto the podium since joining Ferrari at the beginning of the 2025 Formula 1 season. However, Silverstone has always been a special place for the British driver—he knows exactly what it means to stand on the podium in front of tens of thousands of home supporters. Speaking to the press, Lewis Hamilton added: “I’d love to finish in the top three here. It would mean a lot, even though it’s been quite challenging to fight for the top positions so far this season.”
With the passionate British crowd behind him and the unpredictable Silverstone conditions potentially in his favor, Lewis Hamilton is hoping that this weekend will mark a turning point in his first year with Ferrari. The Scuderia will also be looking to confirm the progress shown in Austria and continue to narrow the gap to the front-runners in what remains a tightly contested Formula 1 season.
