The Ferrari driver welcomes the new regulations
While Max Verstappen has expressed frustration with the 2026 F1 regulations, Lewis Hamilton has taken a completely different view, describing this generation of cars as “amazing” for on-track duels. During the Chinese Grand Prix, Hamilton engaged in repeated battles with his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, a contest that was widely described as “fantastic” and resolved without collisions, to the amazement of Mercedes’ George Russell.
“It’s very easy to follow closely the car ahead,” Lewis Hamilton explained during the post-race press conference in China. “The situation compared to previous years is significantly better. You don’t get dirty air that makes you lose too much downforce. I think this is the best racing I’ve ever experienced in F1.”
Lewis Hamilton also reflected on his duel with Charles Leclerc, adding: “In the car it was incredible – it felt like being on a go-kart, with overtakes and counter-overtakes. You could position the car perfectly, and sometimes there wasn’t even a sheet of paper between us. This is what happens when great drivers battle while respecting each other.”
