Lewis Hamilton has been chosen as the new ambassador for M24, the newly revamped museum located beside the main entrance of the circuit that hosts the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion and one of the most influential figures in modern motorsport has been selected as the public face of the venue, which is set to officially open on May 28 at Circuit de la Sarthe.
M24 is far from being just another motorsport museum. It is designed as a place where motorsport tells its story not only to dedicated fans, but also to those discovering this world for the very first time. The venue brings together an extraordinary collection of cars, memorabilia, archives, and personal stories to recreate more than a century of passion, innovation, and courage.
The museum embraces the full spectrum of motorsport, including Formula 1, endurance racing, rallying, motorcycle racing, single-seaters, and much more. Its collection features historic machines that have shaped their respective disciplines and left a lasting mark on motorsport history.
Among the standout exhibits is the Mercedes W09, the car Lewis Hamilton drove to his fifth Formula 1 World Championship title in 2018. It is one of the museum’s most significant pieces and carries a special connection to the project’s patron.
By accepting this role, Lewis Hamilton is doing more than simply lending his name to the initiative. His involvement reflects the museum’s ambition to be a destination for everyone—welcoming every type of visitor, every motorsport discipline, and every generation.
“What has been created here is more than a traditional automotive museum: it is a home for motorsport, a place that tells the stories of races, people, and technologies that have made Le Mans and motorsport so special,” commented the Ferrari driver.
“M24 also brings together an incredible collection of racing cars and memorabilia, including one of the largest collections of Formula 1 single-seaters in the world. Together with other legendary machines, they make this place truly unique.”
Richard Mille added: “A passion for motorsport cannot be passed on through books alone. It is handed down through memorabilia, emotions, and the stories told by those who lived through those moments. Every car in a collection like the one at M24 is a work of art.”
“It represents the culmination of countless hours of relentless work, the result of a collective intelligence that cannot be fully understood simply by admiring the finished product. That is precisely the role of this museum: to tell the entire story. In the same way, Lewis Hamilton is far more than seven world titles. He is the ideal person to represent the passing of our heritage to the next generation.”
Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, concluded: “Lewis Hamilton is much more than an extraordinary list of achievements. He is one of those rare athletes who has used his influence to drive change far beyond the boundaries of his own sport. M24 was born from that same vision.”
“It is a place that celebrates the heroes and heroines of motorsport, whose achievements belong to all of us. I am proud and delighted to welcome Lewis Hamilton to what promises to be a truly exciting adventure.”
