Lewis Hamilton leaves the 2025 Brazil Grand Prix disappointed but determined to remain positive. The seven-time world champion endured a challenging weekend at Interlagos, marked by two separate incidents and an early retirement in his first race wearing the Ferrari suit.
Speaking to the media, Lewis Hamilton expressed his candid and frustrated thoughts, acknowledging that the 2025 season is becoming increasingly complicated for both himself and the team. He explained the circumstances behind his double incident. The first occurred in Turn 1, where he came into contact with Carlos Sainz during the chaotic start. Hamilton said, “I’m not exactly sure what happened in Turn 1, but obviously it wasn’t great to be hit. After that contact, the car was basically destroyed.”
The British driver’s race ended after a second incident when he collided with Franco Colapinto. Lewis Hamilton explained, “He made a mistake in the final corner, I had a good exit and tried to pass, but I felt he moved at the same moment.” The unavoidable contact damaged the front of the SF-25, forcing him to retire.
Hamilton, Brazil disaster, and Ferrari’s tough weekend
The Brazil GP turned into a disaster for Ferrari. In addition to Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc was forced to retire following a collision with Kimi Antonelli and Oscar Piastri on the restart of Lap 6. The Monegasque hit the barriers after being caught in the chain reaction triggered by Piastri. The Australian was subsequently given a 10-second penalty, while Antonelli managed to finish second behind Lando Norris.
Despite the setbacks, Lewis Hamilton tried to maintain a positive outlook. “It’s a disaster, stressful and disappointing for everyone on the team,” he admitted. “But I’m trying to stay afloat and keep a positive mindset.”
The Briton also highlighted that he still believes in the car’s potential. “Charles did an excellent job in qualifying, so there is performance in the car. Now we just need to keep believing that something good can come out of all these difficulties.”
Eliminated in Q2 during qualifying, Lewis Hamilton didn’t hide his frustration over a season that hasn’t taken off yet, but he wanted to leave a message of hope. “I’m confident we’re destined for something positive in the future. Perhaps we’re just clearing out all the bad luck from this year. We won’t give up.”
Looking ahead, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion knows that the second half of the season must bring concrete answers and results. After a disastrous Brazil GP, Ferrari will aim for redemption at the next round in Las Vegas, hoping to reverse a trend that has turned the recent races into a challenging obstacle course.
