Lewis Hamilton issues heartfelt statement after Ferrari’s late brake issue at Marina Bay. Lewis Hamilton addresses Ferrari’s struggles after the Singapore GP.

Lewis Hamilton responds to Ferrari criticism and looks ahead with optimism after Singapore GP setback

Following a challenging weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has addressed the growing criticism surrounding Ferrari and reflected on the progress being made despite recent setbacks. As the 2025 Formula 1 season enters its final stretch, concerns have risen that Ferrari’s form is declining compared to their direct rivals — particularly McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull Racing.

While McLaren secured the Constructors’ Championship in Singapore and George Russell delivered victory for Mercedes, Ferrari endured another frustrating race weekend. Lewis Hamilton started ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc in qualifying but was overtaken at the start due to being on the dirty side of the grid. Despite Ferrari’s strategic attempts to recover positions through a late switch to soft tyres, Lewis Hamilton’s race unraveled due to a brake failure in the closing stages, forcing him to settle for seventh place.

The incident not only cost Lewis Hamilton valuable points but also reignited debate among fans and Italian media about Ferrari’s technical direction and ability to compete consistently at the top. Leclerc described the team’s Singapore performance as disappointing, while Fernando Alonso expressed frustration after losing time behind Hamilton, who was later penalized five seconds for exceeding track limits. Amid the criticism, Lewis Hamilton took the opportunity to address the situation and highlight what he believes are Ferrari’s underlying positives.

Hamilton’s reflection on Singapore and Ferrari’s progress

After the Singapore race, the Briton shared his thoughts on social media, using the moment to express gratitude and perspective following what had been an emotionally taxing week marked by the loss of his dog, Roscoe. The British driver used the post not only to thank fans for their support but also to emphasize the importance of resilience and teamwork within Ferrari during challenging times.

Lewis Hamilton explained that, despite the disappointing race result, he remained focused on the team’s continuous improvement. He noted that while headlines often highlight failures or missed opportunities, the real story lies in how Ferrari is responding to adversity. According to Lewis Hamilton, every setback provides valuable lessons, and he underlined his pride in how the team continues to push forward despite external pressure.

He also pointed out that the brake issue which hindered his race came at a time when Ferrari’s strategy was working well, suggesting that without the mechanical problem, a stronger finish might have been possible. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion indicated that he and the team were already reviewing the data at Maranello to ensure lessons are learned ahead of the next Grand Prix.

In his message, Hamilton reaffirmed his commitment to Ferrari and the tifosi, saying he was determined to help the Scuderia return to the top. He emphasized that while progress was evident, Ferrari could not afford to be satisfied with gradual improvement alone. For Lewis Hamilton, achieving success with Ferrari means striving for perfection — a mindset he believes is essential for restoring the team to championship-winning form.

Optimism and focus ahead of the season finale

Looking ahead to the remaining six Grands Prix and three Sprint events of the 2025 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton remains cautiously optimistic. The seven-time world champion has an impressive record at several of the upcoming venues, including five victories in Abu Dhabi and Austin, as well as multiple podiums across the remaining circuits. Although winning another race this year will be a major challenge given Ferrari’s recent form, Lewis Hamilton’s strong performance in the Sprint Race at Shanghai earlier in the season demonstrated his ability to extract competitive pace from the SF-25 when conditions suit the car.

Within Ferrari, team principal Fred Vasseur and his technical staff have already begun prioritizing development for 2026, when the new regulations will redefine Formula 1’s aerodynamic and engine landscape. The team’s focus on refining its suspension design and optimizing weight distribution is expected to pay dividends in the medium term, even if it comes at the cost of short-term results. Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing continues to introduce minor upgrades to the RB21, but Ferrari’s long-term approach suggests a clear commitment to being ready for the next regulation era.

Historically, Ferrari has demonstrated its engineering strength during major rule changes, particularly with power unit development. With the 2026 Formula 1 regulations expected to place a greater emphasis on energy recovery systems and fuel efficiency, many analysts believe Ferrari could once again emerge as one of the frontrunners in the engine department. While Mercedes remains a potential benchmark in this area, Ferrari’s track record suggests they will be formidable competitors.

Another encouraging sign for the Scuderia is the growing performance parity between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. After a difficult start to the season, Lewis Hamilton has significantly reduced the points gap to his Monegasque teammate, signaling a strong adaptation to the Ferrari environment. The internal competition between the two drivers has been seen as healthy, pushing both to improve and contributing valuable data for Ferrari’s development team.

As the campaign nears its end, Lewis Hamilton’s message is clear: he remains fully committed to the project at Ferrari and confident in its long-term potential. His attitude reflects a blend of experience, patience, and determination — qualities that could be pivotal as Ferrari continues its pursuit of consistency and performance. For the Briton, the next races are not merely about results, but about laying the foundation for future success with the Scuderia.

While the frustration of Singapore still lingers, the British driver’s words and outlook serve as a reminder that Ferrari’s journey back to the top of Formula 1 will not happen overnight. Yet, with Lewis Hamilton’s leadership, Fred Vasseur’s management, and a clear strategic vision for 2026, the iconic Italian team may soon find itself back where it belongs — fighting for wins and championships once again.
