Lewis Hamilton foresees painful road ahead: “It’s going to be like this for the rest of the year”. Lewis Hamilton fears his struggles with Ferrari's SF-25 could last all season, following a tough Saudi GP.

Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari F1 2025

Lewis Hamilton has issued a stark warning about his ongoing struggles at Ferrari, expressing concern that the challenges he’s facing may persist throughout the entire 2025 Formula 1 season. The seven-time world champion made the comments following a frustrating Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where he was unable to find any meaningful pace or comfort behind the wheel of the SF-25.

Lewis Hamilton started and finished the race in seventh place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, crossing the line more than 31 seconds behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, who secured the Scuderia’s first podium of the season with a third-place finish. Despite the team’s strong overall performance, Hamilton was left deeply unsatisfied with his own race and voiced doubts about a quick turnaround.

Reflecting on his performance, Lewis Hamilton admitted there was virtually nothing positive to take from the weekend on a personal level. The Briton reportedly stated that, aside from Charles Leclerc’s podium, there was little to celebrate. His frustrations stemmed primarily from the car’s unpredictable handling, which left him battling severe understeer in the opening stint and only marginally improved balance in the second half of the race.

The British driver described his difficulty in finding a connection with the SF-25, explaining that he was struggling to feel the car underneath him and had been unable to identify a clear, singular cause for the lack of performance. His comments painted a bleak picture of his current form, suggesting that he and his engineers are still in search of answers as to why the car remains so challenging to drive.

What may be even more concerning for Ferrari is Lewis Hamilton’s belief that the issues are unlikely to be resolved in the short term. He is understood to have predicted that similar problems will resurface at the Miami Grand Prix and potentially continue throughout the 2025 Formula 1 campaign. According to Lewis Hamilton, no immediate fix is on the horizon, and he expects the rest of the year to be, in his words, “painful.”

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion emphasized that he had experimented with numerous setup changes and driving approaches across the weekend, but none yielded the desired improvements. The car, he claimed, simply refused to respond as expected, adding to a growing sense of frustration as he seeks to establish his footing within the Ferrari camp.

Lewis Hamilton’s candid remarks underscore the mounting pressure he faces in his debut season with the Maranello-based squad, and raise critical questions about how quickly the team can deliver updates that might better suit his driving style. As Ferrari eyes a championship challenge, the discrepancy between Charles Leclerc’s strong form and Lewis Hamilton’s ongoing difficulties will be closely watched in the races to come.
