The 2025 Formula 1 season is nearing its conclusion, and Lewis Hamilton’s first year with Ferrari has not lived up to expectations. The dream of bringing the Scuderia back to the top has clashed with a more complex reality than anticipated, raising questions about whether the first signs of discontent are emerging between the two sides.
Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari with the ambition of transforming the team, bringing with him years of experience, discipline, and a winning mentality. However, according to Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft, the British driver does not feel that his voice is being heard. Speaking on The F1 Show podcast, Croft openly discussed a growing sense of frustration within Maranello. The car has struggled to show consistent progress, and the team seems not to have fully embraced Lewis Hamilton’s input. The seven-time world champion has reportedly tried to influence internal procedures and working methods, but with little tangible success so far. David Croft emphasized that this underlying tension could become an increasingly important storyline in the near future.
Croft sheds light on Hamilton’s frustration at Ferrari
“It’s not good enough compared to what they achieved in Austin last year. It’s not good enough compared to what people expected from the team this season, and it’s not good enough for Lewis Hamilton. I think there are signs that Lewis is losing a bit of patience in his efforts to help the team improve and change its methods, to modify some of the procedures in order to make progress, without being listened to. For me, this could become a more evident story in the future: Lewis is desperate to help Ferrari rediscover its glory years, but right now he doesn’t feel he’s being heard by the management or by those above them,” Croft explained.
The future of Lewis Hamilton’s adventure at Ferrari may depend on the team’s ability to embrace change. Even a driver of his caliber has limits to his patience, and time is running out for Ferrari to prove its willingness to evolve. Lewis Hamilton has already spoken about the matter, acknowledging that the language difference can be an obstacle but also noting that the team is gradually starting to apply his feedback. Changing procedures that have remained unchanged for years is not easy, yet Hamilton is determined to play an active role in the development process for the 2026 project. The new Ferrari car could represent the British driver’s final opportunity to fight for another world title — and he knows it perfectly well.
