The British driver has consistently highlighted that this season is part of a long-term project, emphasizing his age as a factor in planning for the future. He has actively sent detailed feedback documents to Ferrari, urging structural, operational, and mechanical adjustments to improve overall team performance.
David Croft believes Hamilton’s patience with Ferrari is wearing thin
Speaking on Sky Sports’ F1 Show podcast, David Croft expressed concern that Lewis Hamilton is increasingly “desperate” to help Ferrari restore the dominance the team once held. David Croft noted that Ferrari have not secured a world championship since 2008, when they won the constructors’ trophy as Lewis Hamilton claimed his first drivers’ title.
The British sports broadcaster explained that Lewis Hamilton, despite his track record at Mercedes in the 2010s, does not feel his advice is being effectively considered at Maranello. This lack of receptiveness from Ferrari management could become a recurring story as the team heads into the 2026 season.
“It’s not good enough for Lewis Hamilton,” David Croft emphasized. “There are clear signs that Lewis is running out of patience with his efforts to help Ferrari improve, to change procedures, and bring performance enhancements, yet he’s not being listened to. This narrative is likely to gain traction as we move forward. Lewis is desperate to help Ferrari regain their glory years, but right now he doesn’t feel heard by management or the hierarchy above them.”
Hamilton’s media tone shows progress but underlying frustration persists
Since the summer break, Lewis Hamilton’s public interviews have shifted in tone. Former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick remarked that the seven-time F1 world champion appeared “defeated” after qualifying eighth for the Sprint, alongside Leclerc. However, later in the weekend, the Briton’s media presence reflected a more positive outlook.
Earlier in the season, Lewis Hamilton had openly criticized his performance and the team’s execution, describing himself as “useless” and questioning whether he should be replaced. Yet, in recent interviews, he has balanced this candor with constructive accountability, highlighting when Ferrari fails to maximize weekend opportunities.
Legendary F1 champion Damon Hill has suggested that Ferrari must give Lewis Hamilton a “smell of victory” to keep him motivated. Notably, the Briton’s best performance of the year came during the Shanghai Sprint, which coincided with Ferrari appearing as the fastest team on the track, providing a glimpse of what the Scuderia could achieve under optimal conditions.
As Lewis Hamilton continues to push for improvements within Ferrari, the tension between the driver’s experience and the team’s established methods may become a defining storyline for the remainder of the 2025 F1 season.
