Double zero for the Reds
Even in his beloved Brazil, Lewis Hamilton experienced a nightmare weekend, with early eliminations in both qualifying sessions, a seventh-place finish in the Sprint, and a disappointing retirement in the main Grand Prix. The retirement came after rear-ending Franco Colapinto’s Alpine, which also earned him a five-second penalty. After the race, the British driver spoke to French TV channel Canal+, commenting on the events on track and apologizing to Ferrari for yet another difficult moment in a season that has fallen far short of the team’s expectations set in February.
“Zero points today for the team is devastating for the squad and everyone back at the factory. I’m sorry,” Lewis Hamilton said. “I apologize for not being able to deliver a good result today. All I can say is that we must not give up. We need to keep trying and keep pushing. It’s not over until it’s over. I know this moment is painful, but I truly believe something positive is on the horizon for us. I have to believe in it.” – the seven-time Formula 1 world champion pointed out.
Race incidents
Reflecting on the incidents at the start of the race, Lewis Hamilton tried to explain what happened: “I haven’t reviewed the footage yet, but I know I was hit from behind. I don’t know who it was, I need to watch everything. After that, the car bounced and I suffered some floor damage.” – the British driver added. At the same time, the Ferrari man did not provide any specific comments regarding the collision with the Alpine of Franco Colapinto.
