The recent rumor that has been circulating is astounding, but in light of recent comments and actions, it could prove to be accurate and perhaps realized. The rumor, reported by Auto Motor und Sport, concerns former Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, who is said to be considering a return to racing in the WEC series next year.
The four-time world champion allegedly has a “concrete offer” to get behind the wheel of the team’s hypercar in the WEC alongside Antonio Felix da Costa and Will Stevens. According to the German publication, the offer is genuine, while the driver’s decision, officially, is still under consideration. Sebastian Vettel stepped away from racing not due to a lack of offers but to spend more time with his family.
This potential scenario of the driver from Heppenheim making a comeback was analyzed by Leo Turrini in his blog ‘Profondo Rosso.’ He expressed his own viewpoint on it. In reality, the Italian journalist believes that the behavior displayed by Sebastian Vettel during his time at Ferrari should serve as an example for Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, especially in a period when there is much talk about their relationship (and possible tensions) and their relationship with the team.
“I came across the possibility of Seb Vettel returning to the track in the WEC. […] And I thought of something. For their own good. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz should take a page out of the German’s book. I mean in their relationship with each other and in their relationship with the Scuderia.”
Sebastian Vettel, despite not fulfilling his dream of winning the championship with the Scuderia, left a profound human mark in Maranello. He proved to be a wonderful person, a team player (even in challenging moments), and a shining example of integrity and commitment to the team.

“Everyone is free to have their own opinion about the German’s time in red. He certainly did not realize his dream or that of many others. Certainly, the own goal at Hockenheim in 2018 left a scar. […] Beyond this, Seb was exemplary in terms of integrity and attachment to the cause. Even in difficult times (think of the final coexistence with the assertive Leclerc, as in Monza 2019), he never crossed the line. And, even in a context of understandable bitterness, he bid farewell to the Prancing Horse with an elegance that few had shown in the past.” – the Italian journalist pointed out.

A role model, as Leo Turrini believes, that should be taken as a reference by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, both in their relationship with each other, putting aside minor disputes or taunts, and in their collaboration with the Maranello team, working for the Scuderia’s benefit instead of self-interest.
“[…] With his strengths and weaknesses, Sebastian Vettel was a team player at Maranello. He also won, although less than he wanted and we desired. Certainly more than Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz combined. The two could/should take him as a model. At least on certain matters, at least for certain things.” – the Italian journalist concluded.
