Another series of questions, more candid considerations. In recent days, well-known Italian journalist and Scuderia Ferrari insider Leo Turrini posted an invitation on his official blog for readers to ask him questions about the Maranello team and any situation linked to Ferrari. Questions that the journalist, on the same platform, provided some very interesting answers to. From the “discomfort” between Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, to rumors about Lewis Hamilton, and a reflection on the Italian engineer who is currently the technical director for the Haas F1 Team, Simone Resta: here are a few of them.
Lewis Hamilton, the Carlos Sainz – Charles Leclerc discomfort, and the Simone Resta mystery
“It’s obvious, even before being evident, that there’s discomfort between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. For any driver, a teammate is also the first rival,” Leo Turrini responds to someone asking for his opinion on the recent tension between the Monegasque and the Spaniard. He adds, “Keep in mind that, as I wrote, Charles had a role in Mattia Binotto’s downfall, an event to which Carlos was strictly unrelated. It’s understandable that Fred Vasseur would want to reassure Charles Leclerc, but it’s also true that until Spa-Francorchamps, Carlos Sainz was ahead in the standings. I don’t see conspiracies: however, objectively, it’s a delicate situation.” – Leo Turrini pointed out.
As is known, the contracts of both Ferrari drivers will expire at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 championship. Many believe that one of them will leave. In recent months, it was thought that Lewis Hamilton could be the ideal replacement, but the British driver’s move to Maranello remained only a rumor. “Lewis Hamilton is still in F1 because he wants the eighth title. Money isn’t the issue. When John Elkann had him contacted, I believe Lewis thought that to return to winning, it’s better to stay with Mercedes in the short term,” explains Leo Turrini.

Regarding Simone Resta, the journalist states: “For me, Simone Resta’s story is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. He didn’t get along with Mattia Binotto, who saw him as a potential internal rival. That’s fine, it’s understandable. But now that Mattia is no longer there, Simone Resta remains in limbo. I swear, I don’t understand. Or maybe I understand all too well.” – Leo Turrini concluded.
